This week, as we concluded our Love Thy Neighbour series, Pastor Jeff reminded us that loving others includes helping people discover the hope we have found in Jesus. Our calling as a church is not only to care, serve, and show compassion, but to share the good news of what God has done in our lives. This is part of living out our heart to see life flow beyond us, helping others know Jesus and experience His generosity.
Looking at the story in Mark 5, we saw how Jesus restored a man whose life had been completely broken. Once he was healed and made whole, his desire was to follow Jesus wherever He went. But instead, Jesus gave him a simple commission: go home to your family and tell them everything the Lord has done for you. That one story, shared faithfully, became a powerful witness that amazed everyone who heard it.
We were reminded that sharing our faith does not require perfect words or special training. It begins with reverence for Christ in our own hearts, a willingness to tell our story, and a spirit of gentleness and respect toward others. Each of us has a place, a community, and relationships where God has positioned us to be a light.
As this series comes to a close, we are sent out with a renewed sense of purpose. To love our neighbour not only through kindness and compassion, but by pointing people to Jesus. To look for opportunities in everyday conversations. To trust that God is already at work in the lives of those around us.
We are commissioned to love. Right where we are.
