There is something exciting about seeing growth. New life, new strength, things changing and flourishing. And the incredible promise of the Christian life is that God desires that kind of growth for us too.

This week, Pastor Jeff launched our new GROW series through 2 Peter, beginning with Peter’s encouragement to “grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.” Growth is part of God’s desire for our lives. He sees who we are now, but He also sees all that we can become in Him.

And we don’t have to manufacture that growth ourselves. Peter tells us that through His divine power, God has already given us everything we need to live the life He is calling us to. He is working within us, giving us both the desire and the power to grow. What an incredible blessing that we can look at our lives and genuinely expect that, with God, we can keep changing, maturing and becoming more like Jesus.

But we also get to participate. Peter encourages us to make every effort to respond to what God is doing, growing in goodness, knowledge, self-control, patient endurance, godliness, affection for one another and love for everyone. God provides what we need, and we choose to step into it.

As we begin this new series, we’re encouraged to desire growth. To believe that God can change what feels stuck, strengthen what is weak and bring new life into every part of who we are. He is growing us, and we get to say yes to the journey.
